1.Name a Malaysian public personality who you think epitomizes the meaning of “Keep Walking” and in 75 words or less, describe how this person inspires you on your own journey of personal progress and determination.

For example.

Tony Fernandes, in my opinion epitomizes the meaning of “Keep Walking”. Reason being,
his bold – no quitting attitude brought Air Asia to where it is today; being one of the World’s best no frills carrier. September 11 was believed to be the worst time to start an airline company, however Tony braved through the impossible and proved them wrong in the statistics by clearing debts and breaking even on the financial front in just three years.
Winners "Never Drink And Drive"

  1. Namewee. He had been criticized by public for his controversial art in music industry which also gained himself fame for his controversial view on stereotypes. His determination to share his art in entertainment, made his famous and successful, yet directed a movie which was his dream. Despite the pressure from the public and government, Namewee created unity among us and made us love our country even more.

  2. Tony Fernandes, one of the most admired executive-turned-entrepreneurs in Malaysia corporate and working world. He is a 'big believer on big dreams', turning a failing government-linked commercial airline into a highly successful budget airline public-listed company. Many thought him to be crazy during the 11th Sept 2001 tragedy, but he had the different thinking. Successful as he is today, he remains humble and stay down to earth. Because of his 'keep walking' passion, now everyone can fly.

  3. Annie Ooi aka Aunty Bersih(The lady who wore a yellow t-shirt holding a flower during the Rally Bersih 2.0). The reason she inspires in life would be her "Keep Walking" spirits. Though she was troubled by policemen, was weaken by tear-gas, sprayed by chemical water, she still "Keep Walking" towards her belief and determination for Malaysia. I believe with her spirit of "Keep Walking", we could achieve anything we want if we believe and we "Keep Walking" towards it.

  4. Tony Fernandes,He is the guy who inspired me.You normally see in the media casually dressed and wearing his signature red Air Asia Cap. But he is the guy who had a dream, mortgage his home, bought an ailing airlines for RM1 which landed him with a RM40 million debt and finally turn the airlines company around to make it one of the best low cost airlines in the world. He started AirAsia after the September 11, when everyone was afraid to fly. And many airlines was going into the red. But Tony Fernandes said this timing was perfect. The leasing cost of planes were low and airlines lay-offs meant that that experience staff were readily available. He is a great example of turning lemons into lemonades. He is also a great example of Managing by " Keep Walking" Around. He believes that if you are closer to the ground you can hear more.

  7. I would name 2 women that inspires me to "Keep Walking". Marina Mahathir and Ambiga. These women champions the rights of the people. They become the beacon of light, the hope for the underprivileged and voice for the voiceless to make sufferings be heard. One can only see their furiousness over public issues like Bersih 2.0 and Seksualiti Merdeka. It inspires in us to stand up and be counted for justice.

  9. If there is any true Malaysian who is best represents the "Keep Walking" persona is Yasmin Ahmad. Her body of work transcends any of the movies Malaysia have ever produced, and each of it reflects the true plights and joy of being a Malaysian. From Sepet to Talentime, from tearing up in most of the commercials she produced for Petronas, her legacy keeps us walking, and being proud for who we are.

  17. Ananda Krishnan is a man who epitomizes the meaning of “Keep Walking”. He is in fact a son of Sri Lankan immigrants, being born in Malaysia and considering racial issues, he has made it very far for his background. Starting off with just a simple Live Aid concert, he has built his multimedia empire. He now owns the MEASAT Broadcast Systems, Maxis communications and many more.

  18. Nik Aziz. From a religious cikgu hanging around Kota Bharu sitting on steps to a political puppet with charisma that strangely make people vote for him despite him encouraging camel riding but he is using a Mercedes S300. The irony.

But today, they are all eating their words after Winnie Loo, the founder and chief creative director of A Cut Above, has successfully turned her passion into a thriving business, with more expansion coming underway.

If she have stopped trying after one of her defeats, she wouldn't have become number one. 22. I would like to say that the malaysian that is the epitome of Keep Walking is ME. But that would be too easy. Instead, i will say that a man by the name of Ahmad Jauhari Yahya to be the person that has personified the Keep Walking spirit. He was the MD/CEO of Malakoff, the independent power producer. He started the company with 15 people and it grew to 700 odd by the time he retired. Now one to rest after retirement, he continued to WALK (at a fast pace) and set up a renewable energy company to produce bio-fuel and to generate electricity! if that wasn't enough, he WALK further by taking up the challenge to be the MD for Malaysia Airline - and to take the risk and do his best to pull the national carrier out of the abyss.

Not many WILL want to take the risk - but being the person that he is, he KEEP WALKING.

AJ, as he is fondly known, is a humble down to earth person. He walks the talk and he Swim Bike Run too!

  29. With his sexy shoe line, Jimmy Choo is the epitome of "keep walking" .. Before he became THE Jimmy Choo, he worked as a cleaner at a shoe factory just so he could fund his college education, and boy did that pay off! From his humble beginnings as a craftsman and designer at his workshop in Hackney London, an old hospital he rented to start his shoe business, his designs were soon discovered and not long after, his creations landed an 8 page spread in Vogue magazine!

Jimmy Choo's brand Jimmy Choo made it's entry into popular culture as well, in one of the episodes of season 5 of Desperate Housewives, Carlos presented Gabrielle a pair of Jimmy Choo's, and not forgetting that catchy song titled "Jimmy Choo" by Ashanti featuring Shyne, even Princess Diana became a patroness of his impeccable design! This proves that Jimmy Choo is first-rate and celebrated not only by us Malaysians, but the whole entire world too, Jimmy Choo is world renowned! All that, and his humble begginings never left him, today Jimmy Choo is setting up a shoemaking institute in Malaysia to cater to budding shoemakers and fashion designers. Yeah! Keep walking in these sexy Jimmy Choos I will, Jimmy ;) You are such an inspiration!

  33. I was not even born yet when Sir Alex became Manchester United manager. It has been 25 years since I've grown up, seeing players come and go, but one still remains.
Sir Alex has unquestionably built a dynasty at Manchester United, over the years with his famous "hair dryer" treatments and "no one is bigger than the club" remarks.
As a football fan and a red devil die hard, I'm honored to be able to share the same joy and belief. As I live and die believing - "Football is not just a game, it's a religion, it's my way of life".

25 years. 37 trophies. Keep Walkin.
My tribute to Sir Alex Ferguson.

  34. Without a doubt, it has to be Anwar. Irrespective of whether he is righteous or not, no one will ever know the truth but he is a true testament of a man's determination. I've always wondered, after doing time, after beaten up, after getting lawsuits, after being suppressed deeply, after all these years of torment, how much more can this man take. One might say, nah i don't think he's worship-worthy but have you looked at the other side of the coin? he's persevered more than any other public figure you'll ever know, period.

    Tabik kepada Anwar. Keep walking.
